DADDY
Daddy is a portmanteau of the word Dad,
elder son’s name, Daniel,
and the second child’s name, Addy.
Daddy는 아빠라는 뜻의 Dad.
큰놈의 이름 Daniel, 작은 놈의
이름 Addy를 합친 합성어이다.

Farmer’s Daddy is a small painting of mine.
I tried to portray the very scent and life of nature.
When I was burned out from work and hard to pick up myself,
I have spent the last 8 years with nature raising plants and nurturing the soil.
Pondering and walking through the fields,
I continue to console myself.
Time of gardens and courtyards runs differently to our world.
Taking breaths and going slow-paced is part of the labor of waiting.
And within the process, there lies realization and discipline.
As I get closer to nature through benevolent labor and learning,
Happiness grows as I feel the impression that “nature is helping me out...”.
‘Farmer’s Daddy,’ sitting among mountains and fields,
Despite its miniscule scale, I am planning to nurture it fruitfully.
This time around, more sweat, contemplation, and research are needed,
Because gardens unveil their true wonders after a decade of nurturing.

자연의 냄새와 생명을 담아보려 했습니다.
일에 지쳐 몸과 마음을 추스르기 힘들 때.
식물을 키우고 흙을 돌보며 8년의 시간을 함께 했습니다.
사색하고, 들판을 거닐며,
스스로를 위로해 나가고 있습니다.
정원과 밭농사는 세상의 속도와 다릅니다.
숨 고르며 천천히 가는 기다림의 일입니다.
그 속에 배움과 깨달음이 있습니다.
배움과 착한 노동을 통해서 자연에 가까이 다가갈수록
“자연이 나를 돕는구나...”라는 생각으로
요즘 전 행복해하고 있습니다.
산과 들 사이에 들어선 ‘파머스대디’
작지만 알차게 가꾸어 나가려 합니다.
더 많은 땀과 고민 연구가 필요한 시기입니다.
정원은 10년은 가꾸어야 경이로운 모습을 보여주기 때문입니다.
Instead of a conventional farmer’s market mainly selling harvested crops, the
establishment goes one step further by redefining the typical greenhouse farm
market by giving a unique brand identity, ‘Famer’s Daddy,’ to allow locals and
people from cities to visit and purchase local crops along with various goods,
such as plants, gardening items, flower cards, etc.
농작물만을 파는 곳이 아니라 ‘파머스대디’라는 브랜드를 만들어 주변 및 도시사람들이 찾아와 식물을
비롯, 정원용품 생화카드 등을 구매하게 하는 새로운 개념의 비닐하우스.
A yucca road full of Yucca filamentosas are raising their flower stalks, preparing
to bloom white flowers. Along with their delectable flowers, Yuccas are an
attractive species for their evergreen qualities during winter seasons.
흰 꽃을 피우려고 한참 꽃대를 올리고 있는 실유카 길이다. 실유카는 탐스런 꽃도 좋지만,
겨울에도 상록을 유지해주는 매력적인 품종이다.
There is a saying that soil raises plants and gardeners nurture the soil. Crop fields are home
for healthy vegetables naturally raised without any fertilizers.
흙은 식물이 키우고 정원사는 흙을 돌본다 라는 말이 있다. 거름 한 줌 안 주는 자연재배로 건강하게
경작하는 채소밭이다. 가운데에는 매실나무가 가로지르고 가지, 파프리카, 오이고추, 토마토 등 각종채소가
자라고 있다.
Vegetable fields are managed with the underlying belief that fields can also look beautiful and, therefore, should
be designed. Fields are organized into portions with logs, panels, and bricks. In England, people call this a bed.
밭도 충분히 예쁠 수 있고 디자인되어야 한다는 신념으로 가꾸어 나가는 채소밭이다.
통나무, 판넬, 벽돌등을 소재로 밭을 구획한다. 영국에선 이를 베드라 부른다.
A cottage is visible at the end of a narrow walking path. The simple cottage blends in to nature and goes well with the surrounding trees.
아주 작은 오솔길 사이에 드러난 관리동 코티지 (Cottage). 단순하지만 주변의 자연과 특히, 나무들과 잘 어우러진다.
