일탈을 꿈꾸는 도시인은 더 이상 휴가와 여행만으로 다 만족할 수 없다. 도시던 시골이던 내가 있는 그 장소 그 자체에서 정신적인 해방감을 맛보려 할 것이다. 흔치 않은 Pent House의 선택과 삶은 좀 더 특별한 경험을 원해서 일 것이다. 제일 윗 층이라는 Premium과 윗 층의 소음에서 자유로울 수 있기도 하다. Rooftop에서는 뛰어난 전망과 실내와는 또 다른 바깥 공간에서의 공기흐름은 물론이고, 기존의 생활패턴의 틀을 깨고 맞닥뜨리는 또 다른 삶의 기대감이 충만해질 수 있다. Pent House의 또 다른 점은 높은 천정고 일 수 있다. 우리는 밋밋할 수 있는 창과 거실벽면에 전통살의 패턴으로 새로운 의미를 부여하고 싶었다. 2.2m 정도의 기준을 만들고 정해놓은 선, 그건 분리가 아니라 나눔이었다. 면을 나누고 선(線)을 강조함으로써 명암을 강조하고 싶었다. 즉 사물의 선을 살리고 입체감을 부여하는 다양한 밝기의 명암인 것이다. 이렇듯 위, 아래의 빛의 밝기와 농담이 다른 것 만으로도 충분히 실내 디자인의 포인트가 될 수 있게 하였다. 수평선을 강조한 침실과 욕실은 바쁜 도시생활속에서도 편안함과 재충전을 꾸준히 제공해 준다. 디자인에는 때론, 지혜가 필요하다. 공간에서 오래 머물러야 하는 사람들을 위해 쾌적하고 즐거울 수 있는 디자인에 대해 고민해야 하고 그에 따른 지혜를 계속 구해야 되기 때문일 것이다.

As well as the premium of being on the top floor, one is free from any noise coming from above. On the rooftop, along with superb views and unique outdoor airflow, one can have high expectations for a different life through experiences that shatter conventional daily lifestyles. Another characteristic of the pent house would be the high ceiling height. We wanted to give new meaning to the bland windows and walls in the living room with Korean traditional lattices. The specified line, based on a predetermined 2.2-meter-high guideline, is not a separation but ‘Nanum’ (a Korean term with an interchangeable meaning of ‘division’ and ‘sharing’). I wanted to emphasize the contrast by dividing faces and highlighting the lines. In short, it is the emphasis of lines in objects and the contrast of various brightness that gives three-dimensionality. As so, brightness and gradation differences of light between spaces above and below suffices as an interior design essence. The bedroom and bathroom that emphasize horizontal lines carry a concept of relaxation that constantly provides comfort and healing from the hectic urban lifestyle. At times, design requires wisdom. This is because we constantly seek for wisdom when putting a lot of thought into designing a pleasant and enjoyable space for people who stays in areas for long periods of time.
