Jeon’s House 리모델링
획일화 된 구조를 탈피하고 남과 다른 생활패턴을 위한 Renovation 작업이다. 거실과 Library를 같은 연장선에서 보기 위해 방을 확장하였고, 구조벽인 기둥에 Fire place를 설치하였다. 회전이 가능한 살(Muntin) 파티션은 투과성과 차단성을 제공할 뿐 아니라 공간에 실루엣 역할을 하며 또 하나의 켜를 이룬다. Curtain 대신 우리의 전통 창호지를 이용, Folding door를 설치하였다. 그러한 시도는 창가에 빛의 여운을 남기곤 해서 좋다. 빠르게 변화하고 진화하는 요즈음 우리의 전통한지와 살(Muntin)문화는 빛을 담고 시간을 나누면서 우리의 마음을 따스하게 만져준다. 그건 분명 전통이 우리에게 주는 작은 선물이다.

Shying away from the conventions, this renovation project was held to create a unique lifestyle. The room was scaled up in order to locate the living room and library on the same horizon, and a fire place was installed in column load bearing walls. Rotatable muntin partitions not only deliver permeable and blocking characteristics, but also act as a silhouette that creates another layer. We installed folding doors composed of Korean traditional paper, ‘Hanji,’ instead of curtains. This attempt leaves a pleasant hint of light near the windows. In a time where everything is changing so quickly, our Korean traditional ‘hanji’ and muntin culture shares moments of sunlight, which warms our hearts. This must be a small gift from our tradition.
