용인시 처인구의 골짜기에 초.중.고등학교 학생들에게 친자연 인성교육을 시키는 통합형 대안학교가 오랜 세월 준비되고 있었다. 924,000m² (28만평) 자연 속에서 한 알의 밀알이 되고 교육을 통해 리더십과 함께 열매맺기를 최종목표로 하는 한밀 숲학교를 세우고자 하는 초자연 프로젝트이다.언덕과 계곡 골짜기마다에 전원생활을 원할 이들을 위한 전원주택이 마을을 형성해 나가고 꽃을 테마로 한 마을의 축제가 이 마을의 방문객수를 늘려가게 되고 또한 이들의 얘기를 듣고 담아줄 마을 커뮤니티와 미술관 그리고 카페가 언덕에서 그림처럼 자리하고 경사지를 이용한 야외음악당 그리고 farm과 정원, 동물농장이 함께하는 케어팜 센터까지… 이 모든 것들이 아름다운 가든을 중심으로 모여 서로 돕고 봉사를 통해 배우며 사랑을 베풀고 치유하며 서로를 의지하고 아이들의 교육을 위해 헌신의 모습을 보이는 곳. 이곳이 꿈의 village가 아니겠는가? 미래를 예측하는 최선의 방법은 미래를 만들어내는 것이라 했다. 내가 생각하고 그려왔던 그림이나 아이디어들이 이 꿈의 village를 만들어 나가는데…하나의 실마리가 되었으면 했다. 인생에서 일어나는 일들이 항상 신선하고 경이로우며 황홀 할 수만은 없다. 나에게는 몰입이 필요했다. 꿈의 village를 위하여… 내자신의 능력을 넘어서는 몰입. 때로 그러한 것은 시간감각이 왜곡되어 시간이 흐르는 것도 잊게 한다. 나에게는 자연을 가까이하면서 체험한 여러 가지 신비로운 경험이 있다. 경이로움과 외경심을 넘어 그건, 고마움과 사랑 그리고 희망이다. 우리의 농업, 가든과 관련된 산업의 현실은 빠르게 발전하는 경제와는 다르게 더디기 그지없다. 더욱이 정원의 나라 영국 그리고 화훼의 농업강국인 네덜란드에 비유하면 우리는 마이너리그이지만 이 한밀숲 학교를 졸업한 학생들이 화훼의 유통과 판매과정을 배우고 영국의 정원을 경험하고 공부하고 돌아와 이 학교와 하임 빌리지에서 실천하고 제자들을 키워나갈 때 우리의 메이저리그 진입은 결코 꿈만은 아닐 것이다… 학교 앞 운동장에는 수업이나 휴식 때 이용 할 수 있는 테이블 그린 (Table Green)이나 파빌리온을 계획 하였다. 가든과 꽃 속에서의 휴식을 통해 가든의 소중함과 선한 영향력을 배워야 한다고 생각했다. 또한, 자연 그대로의 색상을 배웠으면 했다. 학교옥상 루프탑에는 각종 채소를 가꾸고 여러 형태의 밭을 디자인하여 수확하는 계절에는 부모님과 마을사람들을 초대해서 Farm Party를 통해 수확의 기쁨을 나누고 축제화해서 전통을 만들어갔으면 좋겠다. 삶에 대한 가치관의 변화는 각박하고 삭막한 도시생활과는 다른 전원생활에서만 느낄 수 있는 삶을 동경하게 되었다. 이러한 철학과 이상을 담아 우리는 구역별로 타운 하우스를 구성해 나갔다. 정겨운 이웃과 들녘에 꽃의 향연이 펼쳐진 산야를 가운데 두고, 학교와 마을이 어우러지는 과정을 연출하고 싶은 것이다. 자연을 향해 열려있는 공감대는 곧 이웃이 될 수 있는 믿음을 줄 것이고 내가 영국의 이름있는 가든에서 보고 느꼈던 봉사하며 배우고 가든 구성의 일원이 되어가는 선순환적인 아름다운 가든 이야기를 펼치고 싶은 것이다. 하임 빌리지를 이루는 계곡에는 예전부터 임도(임산도로, 산에 접근이 쉽게 만들어 놓은 도로)가 있었다. 산책이나 자전거 트래킹하기 좋은 임도를 따라가다 보면 계곡 한쪽에 누구든

In the valley of Cheoingu, Yongin City, an alternative school that teaches environmental friendly character education to students in grades 1-12 was being planned for a while. Becoming a single grain of wheat in the wilderness, 924,000m² in size, the Hanmil Forest School aims to teach leadership and help achieve fruitful results through education. Building such a school is considered almost a supernatural project. On every hill, gorge, and valley, clusters of houses will form a small village for people who dreamt of the countryside lifestyle. Along with flower-themed village festivals that will raise visitors, there will be various aiding facilities, such as a village community where people’s voice is heard, a museum, a café that sits on a hill like a painting, an outdoor concert hall located on a slope, farms, gardens, and a Care Farm Center with an animal farm. Everything is located around a beautiful garden in the center. It is a place where people help each other, learn through volunteering, heal through love and generosity, rely on one another, and show endurance and sacrifice for children’s education. Isn’t this a village of our dreams? People say the best way to predict the future is by creating it. I hope the sketches and ideas I drew and thought about could aid in creating this dream village. Things happening in life cannot always be refreshing, marvelous, and blissful. For the dream village…I needed the element of immersion. At times, concentrating beyond my limits distorts sense of time that leads to losing track of time. By keeping nature close, I have gone through various mystical experiences. Exceeding the level of astonishment, it was gratefulness, love, and hope. Unlike the current fast growing economy, our agriculture and garden industries are sluggish. Compared to England, the nation of gardens, and Netherland, the nation of floriculture and agriculture, we are in the minor leagues. However, our entry into the major leagues won’t be just a dream when Hanmil Forest school graduates return after experiencing and studying gardens of England as well as the process of sales and distribution in floriculture, and start applying them to Hanmil and Heim Village, and also passing on what they have learned to their students. Table greens and pavilions were planned in front of the school so that they could be used during outdoor classes or recess. I thought children should learn the importance of gardens and their positive influences through relaxing moments among gardens and flowers. Also, I hoped they could learn the raw colors of nature. At the school rooftop, various vegetables can be grown on differently designed garden beds. During harvesting seasons, I hope village people and parents are invited to Farm Parties to share the joy of harvesting and continue to hold this festival like a tradition. Regarding the change in values of life, I began to admire the countryside life which cannot be felt at the dry urban areas. Based on this philosophy and ideology, we planned and shaped the town house by districts.
