더 한옥호텔 & 리조트 가든 플랜
강원도 영월군 남면에 16만평(529,000㎡) 부지에 C회장은 8년의 준비기간을 거쳐 한옥 호텔을 준비해왔고 그 각고의 노력이 본동 오픈을 시작으로 결실을 맺기 시작했다. 우리의 과제는 한옥으로 둘러 쌓여 있는 2000평(6,600㎡) 정원을 기획∙설계하고 복도형 호텔의 중앙마당과 호텔 파사드 앞 메인 정원을 계획하며 호텔 투지 한쪽에 목구조들을 이용한 수변 그린 하우스와 다목적 이벤트 가든을 디자인 하는 것이다. 원래는 그냥 호수로 계획되었던 한옥에 둘러싸인 2000평의 가든. 우리는 이곳을 경사지가든으로 계획하고자 한다. 내려다 보이는 경사지 밑으로 풍경식 정원 그리고 분수가 있는 사색의 정원. 또, 조형물이 있는 조각 정원이 각각의 테마를 갖고 캐널로 연결되는 정원인 것이다. 호수와 경사지는 산책길로 서로 관계를 맺고 물의 형태를 따라 유려함을 나타낸다. 가장 높은 곳은 조형물이 있는 조각 정원이며 길지 않은 여정이지만 아래 호수들로 구불구불 흐르며 땅을 적시고 꽃들이 피어나게 한다. 경사지 가든과 호수 중심에는 네개의 다리로 연결되어 있는 섬을 두었다. 섬은 다목적 공간으로서 더 한옥 호텔의 커뮤니티 공간이고 새로운 쉼의 형태인 풀멍 물멍…등 숨쉬는 공간이며 다채로운 프라이빗 행사…등이 가능한 색다른 공원모델을 제시해보고자 한다. 진입로에서 시작되는 풍경식 정원은 그라스와 수크렁, 자엽국수나무가 물결치듯 반겨주는 바람의 언덕이다. 조각정원과 풍경식 정원을 연결해주는 캐널은 대왕 참나무들이 중심축을 이루며 이른 봄이 오면 미완성 교향곡처럼 꽤 많은 수선화와 붓꽃이 물결치듯 경쾌하게 다가올 것이며 여름에 이르면 흰꽃 아스틸베가 그 뒤를 이어 캐널 주위를 장중하게 수놓을 것이다. 보라색 청화 쑥부쟁이 필때쯤… 가을에 이르러서야 마침내 교황곡이 완성되는 것이다. 호숫가의 세그루 수양버들은 우리들에게 “애뜻하고 빛바랜 우리의 추억을 되살리라”고 유혹하며 그늘을 만들어 줄 것이다. 봄이면 물가에는 노란색 창포가 가득하고 또한, 풍만한 작약 꽃들이 고풍스런 자태로 언덕 위 샤스타데이지 꽃들과 어울릴 것이다. 눈부신 여름이 다가오면, 보행자들은 우단동자와 에키네시아 풍지초, 그리고 수국이 만개한 산책길을 걸으며 다양한 꽃그림자를 밟게 될 것이다. 생명이 있는 것은 멈추지 않는다. 바람이 들야를 깨우기 전 아주 이른 봄 설유화와 미선나무, 언덕의 스노우드롭을 통해 우리는 어김없이 예전의 자연을 만나고 시간을 만나게 된다. 이 곳의 꽃나무들은 시간과 함께 기·승·전·결의 간경한 구성을 이어나갈 것이다. 우선 큰 교목 즉, 큰 가문비 나무, 팽나무, 회화나무, 은행나무, 물푸레 나무, 마가목 등이 가든의 중심이 되어 버티어 주며 꽃들의 보금자리를 위해 그늘도 만들어준다. 잡귀를 물리쳐준다는 황금 회화나무는 프린스턴 골드와 함께 노란색 잎으로 특색 있는 숲의 모습을 보여줄 것이다. 또한 안개자엽나무는 산딸나무와 쌍을 이루며 단풍나무와 함께 호수 주위를 붉게 물들여 줄 것이다. 잎이 하트모양인 계수나무는 다리 양쪽을 지켜주며 연인들의 사랑을 맺어준다는 전설을 만들어 나갈 것이고… 자귀나무는 섬 한쪽에서 부부금실을 상징하듯 신비로운 꽃을 피워주곤 할 것이다. 무엇보다도 문그로우는 곳곳에서 본인의 모습을 드러내고 이곳 정원이 달빛정원이라는 이름으로 불려지기를 원할 것이다. 때죽나무, 고광나무, 산사나무, 소사나무 등 소교목들은 보행로 곳곳, 경사지 곳곳에서 달빛정원의 흐름을 이어 나갈 것이다. 호수 물길을 따라 이어지는 둥근 산책 길을 걸으며 주변의 풍경과 식물들의 끝없는 자리매김. 소멸 그리고 탄생을 보는 것도 꽤 즐거운 일이다. 또한, 물억새 가득한 수변 위 그린하우스에서 가족 모임이나 축하해야 할 행사를 하며 차 한잔, 와인 한잔하며 나누는 즐거움 또한 또다른 축복일 것이다. 여기, 오랫동안 준비한 영월 더 한옥호텔과 푸르름 가득한 언덕정원에서 전통과 자연이 주는 소중한 경험과 위로를 한번 겪어보는 것은 어떨까?

Yeongwol the Hanok Hotel & Resort Garden Plan
On a 529,000㎡ site in Nam-myeon, Yeongwol-gun, Gangwon-do, Chairman C has spent eight years preparing a hanok hotel. With the opening of the main building, his dedicated efforts started to bear fruit. Our task was to plan ∙ design a 6,600㎡ garden surrounded by hanok, plan the main garden in front of the courtyard and facade of the hotel, and design a waterfront greenhouse and multi-purpose event garden using preexisting wooden structures. Originally planned as just a lake, the 6,600㎡ garden is surrounded by hanok. We want to plan this place as a slope garden. A picturesque garden and a contemplative garden with fountains below the sloping terrain. In addition, the sculpture garden, with its different themes, connects to a canal. The lake and the slope are related to each other as walking paths, and they show their gracefulness by taking the shape of water. The highest point is the sculpture garden, which meanders into the lakes below, soaking the ground and allowing flowers to bloom. In the center of the slope garden and the lake, there is an island connected by four bridges. As a multi-purpose space, the island is a community space of the Hanok Hotel that suggests new forms of rest: pulmeong / mulmeong, or daydreaming while staring at green / water. It's a place where you may take a break and host various private events. . . I would like to present a unique park model that may transform depending on the client’s needs. The landscape garden that begins at the entrance is the Hill of Wind where grass, fountain grass, and ninebark greet you like undulating waves. The canal, which connects the sculpture and landscape garden, is centered around the large pin oaks. When early spring arrives, it will be lively with quite a few daffodils and irises, resembling an unfinished symphony. As summer approaches, white astilbes will follow, adorning the canal surroundings with a sense of grace and abundance. When the purple aster blooms... It is not until autumn that the symphony is finally completed. The three weeping willow trees by the lakeside will entice us, saying, "Revive our dear and faded memories," and create shade for us. In spring, the water's edge will be filled with yellow iris, and also, lush peony will harmonize with the graceful Shasta daisies on the hill. As the dazzling summer approaches, people will walk along a path adorned with catchflies, echinacea, hakone grass, and hydrangea, stepping on various floral shadows. Things with life do not stop. Before the wind awakens the fields, we unfailingly encounter the nature of the past and meet with time through the spring spirea, Korean abeliophyllum, and snowdrop on the hill. The flowering trees will continue their subtle arrangement of beginnings, growth, flourishing, and conclusions overtime. First, large canopy trees, such as spruce, hackberry, pagoda, ginkgo, ash, and rowan tree, serve as the focal point of the garden, creating shade for the flowers. The golden pagoda tree, known for repelling evil spirits, will showcase a unique forest with its yellow leaves alongside the Princeton Gold. Furthermore, the smoketree, with the kousa dogwood, will join the maple tree in coloring the surroundings of the lake with shades of red. The katsura, with its heart-shaped leaves, will guard both sides of the bridge and continue to weave the legend of bringing lovers together… The pink silk tree, like a symbol of marital harmony, will often bloom mystical flowers on one side of the island. Above all, the Moonglow juniper will reveal its form in various places and aspire for this garden to be called the Moonlit Garden. Small trees, such as the Japanese snowbell, mock orange, Chinese hawthorn, Korean hornbeam will continue the flow of the Moonlit Garden throughout the pathways and slopes. Walking along the rounded path that follows the course of the lake, there is a strong presence of the surrounding scenery and plants. Witnessing passing and birth can also be quite enjoyable. Furthermore, in the waterside greenhouse filled with Amur silvergrass, sharing a cup of tea or a glass of wine while holding family gatherings or celebrating special events will be another form of blessing and joy. Here, how about experiencing the cherished moments of tradition and solace that the thoughtfully planned Yeongwol the Hanok Hotel and verdant hillside garden have to offer?
